Clearing out your office? The Technical Library will help you recycle books and Sandia reports (SAND reports) that you no longer need. Please -- send NO classified in your Gift Book donation.

We will accept books and SAND reports and process them:

• Gift books (donated books) will be placed in the Gift Book section of the Technical Library on the 2nd and 3rd Tuesdays of the month. This section is open to all Sandians and on-site contractors to take books of interest to them for their Sandia offices. These are still Sandia property, procured with Sandia funds. Therefore they may not be taken home for personal use, sold on E-Bay or in garage sales.
• Unclaimed gift books will be recycled on the 3rd and 1st Tuesdays (e.g., books put out on the 1st Tuesday will be recycled on the 3rd Tuesday; books put out on the 3rd Tuesday will be recycled on the 1st Tuesday) of each month.
• SAND reports will be given to the Reports Management Team in the Technical Library, where they will be evaluated for inclusion in the collection. If the SAND reports are duplicates of current holdings, they will be recycled (if unlimited release) or placed in white disposition bags (if limited release).

What we cannot accept:

• videos, CDs, microfiche, or microfilm
• maps
• laboratory notebooks
• journals, magazines, and newspapers

Please dispose of these items appropriately, after consulting with the Recorded Information Management organization (to determine whether the item may be a record), with Classification (to determine whether there is any sensitivity about the item), and with Pollution Prevention (to determine the best recycling option).

Where to send Gift books? Pack them in a box and put "Gift Books -- attention Roxanne Barela, MS0899, 804/10" as the destination on the Move request.

You can send unclassified (unlimited or limited) SAND reports directly to the Reports Management Team in the appropriate envelope (of course!) to MS0899.

You can send classified SAND reports through appropriate classified mail channels to the Technical Library.
